Abi Elphinstone grew up in Scotland where she spent most of her childhood building dens, hiding in tree houses and running wild across highland glens. After being coaxed out of her tree house, she studied English at Bristol University and then worked as a teacher in Africa, Berkshire and London. She is the author of THE DREAMSNATCHER, THE SHADOW KEEPER and THE NIGHT SPINNER, a series of fast-paced adventure books for 8-12 year olds which follow Moll, Sid, Alfie and wildcat Gryff's quest to find the Amulets of Truth and destroy the Shadowmasks' dark magic. Her next book, an Arctic adventure called SKY SONG, will be published in January 2018. When she's not writing, Abi volunteers for us at Coram Beanstalk in a school in London, speaks in schools and travels the world looking for her next story. Her latest adventure involved living with the Kazakh Eagle Hunters in Mongolia and you can read about that here.

Having learnt about courage, empathy, friendship and kindness through the books she read at school, Abi is passionate about giving all children, whatever their background, access to stories now. Abi volunteers at Oxford Gardens Primary School where she runs a weekly book club for Year 6 children. Abi also kindly offered an amazing talk as part of Beanstalk BookFest 2016 and is joining us again for Beanstalk BookFest 2018.
