Volunteering Reading 321 - apply to volunteer in a primary school As a Reading 321 reading helper you'll be placed in a local primary school to help three children, aged between 5-11, twice a week, for at least one academic year (three terms, starting at any time of the year). With your support, you'll help them improve their reading ability, confidence and learn to love reading. You'll make a lasting difference: You'll read, play and talk to open up a child’s imagination and help them discover the magic of reading You'll help three children aged 5-11 succeed at school You'll become part of your local community and give something back What's involved: You'll engage with primary school age children in a fun and positive way You'll adapt each session to the child, seeing for yourself how they progress You'll volunteer for 90 minutes, twice a week, in a school near you for 30 weeks - during school hours on separate days so you'll need to be able to spare a couple of mornings or afternoons a week for that length of time. It's the consistency and regularity of our support that makes all the difference! In some areas we may be able to offer a once a week volunteering opportunity, where you ‘buddy up’ with another volunteer who goes in on another day.
