Our Patron

Her Majesty The Queen (formerly The Duchess of Cornwall) became Coram Beanstalk’s Patron in January 2013, at the start of our 40th Anniversary. On that day she visited St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Battersea, the flagship school of our ‘Get London Reading’ campaign. At the visit she met Coram Beanstalk reading helpers and read the fairy story Jack and the Beanstalk to a group of young children.

The Queen Consort was no stranger to Coram Beanstalk’s work, having previously visited Cavendish Primary School in Chiswick, West London in 2011 to watch Coram Beanstalk reading sessions. Since becoming our Patron she has helped us in many ways, including visits to schools in Somerset and Gloucestershire.

We are delighted that The Queen Consort has agreed to support Coram Beanstalk in this way. For a long time she has been closely involved with efforts to make sure children have the literacy skills needed to succeed in life and is the Patron of a number of other literacy charities.
