Our effect Reading together with children at home and at school can make such a big impact on reading enjoyment and, as a school that's at the heart of the community, we really want to encourage that to happen more. Coram Beanstalk has helped open that door and sparked conversation across the local cluster about the importance of reading, which is such a positive outcome and something we wanted to see happen. Mike Taylor, Head Teacher at Rosehearty Primary School Coram Beanstalk’s support is proven to help children as they: · Develop the key pre-school skills that make being taught to read an easier process · Grasp the ‘mechanics’ of reading as they are taught to read · Learn how to become an effective reader In other words, we support a child at every stage as they continue along a path to becoming someone who not only can read independently but chooses to do so! We know that the more children are supported in a way that means they enjoy reading, the more inclined they are to keep trying when they find it hard (and keep doing it when they have other options!), the more they progress and the more their self-confidence and self-esteem grows. 91% of schools said the children supported showed an improvement in their attitude to reading 95% of schools said the children supported showed an improved attitude to learning in general 90% of schools said the children supported showed improved engagement with reading 91% of schools said the children supported showed improved confidence and self-esteem 81% of schools said the children supported showed improved socila and inter-personal skills* * Data from our 2021-22 Impact Report below Early Years and Primary Having found that the impact on reading levels, confidence and self-confidence was so significant in our academy with one Coram Beanstalk reading helper, we decided to get two more - what a great resource!
