Our latest impact Reading together with children at home and at school can make such a big impact on reading enjoyment and, as a school that's at the heart of the community, we really want to encourage that to happen more. Coram Beanstalk has helped open that door and sparked conversation across the local cluster about the importance of reading, which is such a positive outcome and something we wanted to see happen. Mike Taylor, Head Teacher at Rosehearty Primary School Coram Beanstalk believes life changes when you choose reading We know that schools will engage with our service to support children who may be falling behind with reading, however consistent one-to-one support brings a range of benefits to children that impacts their whole school experience and engagement. Working under the umbrella of shared, positive, reading experiences, our reading helpers get to know children as individuals and champion them to believe in themselves. This commitment to the child and exploration of a range of books helps children to become more confident in themselves, allowing them to engage more fully in school life. Our latest data shows that as well as children making progress against age related reading expectations: 91% of schools believe our service has had impact across the whole curriculum 96% of children supported demonstrate improved communication skills 64% of schools believe our support has improved the child's attendance 87% of children supported are demonstrating a greater belief in their reading abilities 96% of children supported show improvement to their wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem * Data from our 2023-24 Impact Survey Early Years and Primary Having found that the impact on reading levels, confidence and self-confidence was so significant in our academy with one Coram Beanstalk reading helper, we decided to get two more - what a great resource!
