Beanstalk and Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons charity have joined forces to enable Beanstalk to reach more children who need support in their reading skills.

Beanstalk recruits and places volunteers in local pre-schools and primary schools to support children who have fallen behind in their reading. Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons Charity supports local organisations and charities in East Kent.

A contact at Acorns Charity introduced the two charities to each other, which will allow the Freemasons to support Beanstalk by raising awareness of the charity. This will include promoting the charity amongst its members, becoming a volunteer and supporting with local fundraising and events. Malou Bengtsson-Wheeler, Area Manager for Beanstalk South East, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons charity and to have a presence on their website. Hopefully this will generate a lot more volunteers for us, and interest in the work that Beanstalk do locally.”

Beanstalk needs more members of the community from across the South East to help children that have fallen behind with reading. To find out more about volunteering with Beanstalk please call Beanstalk on 0845 450 0307 or visit our volunteering page.
