Beanstalk is delighted to have been shortlisted for four prestigious awards which recognise excellence and innovation in the charity sector

Beanstalk works across England to train and place volunteers to provide one-to-one support to children aged 3 to 13 in a variety of ways, turning them into confident, passionate and able readers. Last year the charity supported 11,000 children in 1,300 primary schools across England through 3,000 volunteers.

Beanstalk has been shortlisted for 'Charity of the Year' in the highly-anticipated Third Sector Excellence Awards, which will be announced on 20th September in London. The well-respected Charity Times Awards has shortlisted Beanstalk in two categories; 'Fundraising Team of the Year' and 'Best Social Media Presence' with the winners being revealed on 3rd October.

Beanstalk's work using digital solutions to deliver its 'Reading Remotely' project has also been recognised and shortlisted for a 'Charity IT Award'. The award has been introduced for the first time this year by the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT). The award champions the transformative power of IT to help charities have a bigger impact on people’s lives, with the winner receiving a £750,000 grant for its proposed project.

Ginny Lunn, Chief Executive Officer for Beanstalk, said:

It’s wonderful to see so many deserving organisations and worthy projects shortlisted across these charity sector awards and we are so proud to be named among them. Over the past two years we have been working towards significantly increasing the number of children we support with reading through a range of projects and programmes. While there is much more work to be done, we are really proud of the progress made so far. To be recognised as part of these sector awards is absolutely fantastic."
