Our huge congratulations go to our charity partner, Parrot Street Book Club, who were awarded bronze in the Best Subscription Box category in the prestigious Junior Magazine Design Awards 2020. Parrot Street make a donation to Coram Beanstalk for every subscription box they sell!

The Junior Design Award judges were full of praise for Parrot Street’s subscription service for encouraging children to get excited about reading and introducing them to a diverse selection of gender-neutral books that they might not normally have discovered. The added bonus of a related activity pack filled with exciting and educational content to encourage subscribers to think and talk about the books they’ve read also impressed the judges.

The panel also noted that for every subscription box shipped, the company make a donation to Coram Beanstalk, which they described as 'a fantastic literacy charity that provides one-to-one support in schools to children'!

Alex Steadman, founder of @thefrugality, described it as "a fantastic concept" while journalist Sam Dean hailed it as "a brilliant way to encourage kids to read". SKY TV presenter Sarah-Jane Mee commended the "clear and well-designed activity  packs" and said "It’s great to see a book club that focuses on engaging children in a wide range of books, authors and genres. It’s a clever idea to make the subscription gender-neutral to ensure kids get to discover more
content without preconceived ideas."

We are delighted to be winners in this year’s Junior Design Awards! The kids’ subscription box market is a busy place right now, so to be recognised in this way is especially thrilling. We’re so pleased that our book subscription service stands out as something that parents really value. And we're proud to support the amazing work Coram Beanstalk and all their brilliant volunteers do to change kids' lives.

Co-founders, Sarah Campbell & Emily Bright
