A literary-themed quiz night hosted in South London has raised almost £1000 for Coram Beanstalk.

The fundraising initiative is created by Catherine Deptford and Maria Stuff of Literary Laughs, an organisation which inspires book clubs to come together to fundraise for worthwhile causes. Charities and book clubs are encouraged to host a quiz night on the same date, to invite friends, family and colleagues and to pay an entry fee per person or team. The Literary Laughs team then send the strictly-embargoed literary quizzes (and answers) for the party to enjoy!

Kate Loynes organised the quiz night in Streatham where six local book clubs competed against each other. The quiz which included a music round and a 'book in a bag' round ended with a tie breaker question and team 'Seven Out of Ten' were the victors! Narrowly missing out on the win was team 'Glitterati' who dressed accordingly.

A Heads and Tales round for individuals saw Corinne win a three months book subscription from Backstory Bookshop in Balham and the winning team were each presented with Katherine Rundell's 'Why you should read children's book, even though you are so old and wise'.

Not only is this a fun and sociable evening, it's a fantastic way to raise money for such a worthy cause as Coram Beanstalk. As a group who love reading and get so much enjoyment from it, it's wonderful to have an opportunity to raise money to help create a new generation of readers.
