The Society of Authors is partnering with Coram Beanstalk with a campaign to support 1,000 children to become lifelong readers in this National Year of Reading.

The Society of Authors (SoA) is the UK’s largest trade union for all types of writers, illustrators and literary translators, proudly advocating reading for pleasure as a lifelong skill.

During 2026 the SoA will be working with Coram Beanstalk to find reading volunteers for primary schools, to inspire and encourage children to grow a love of reading.

The campaign aims to recruit 250 volunteers, which will enable Coram Beanstalk to provide 1:1 reading support to an additional 1,000 primary school children.

In order to train these reading volunteers, we need to raise £25,000.

Please help us to reach this goal by giving what you can. Every little helps.

Or if you have some time this year, why not consider sharing your love of reading with a school near you.
