Volunteering Beanstalk Reading Role Models With Beanstalk Reading Role Models we partner struggling and reluctant readers with a volunteer from a local sixth form, who provides them with the one-to-one support they need to improve their reading skills, confidence and attitude. Becoming a Beanstalk Reading Role Model is the perfect opportunity for any 16-18 year old student interested in developing skills in education and demonstrating extra-curricular commitment for UCAS and job applications. You'll support two children, twice a week, for two terms. You'll provide 30 minutes of one-to-one support in each session, a total of two hours per week. Each volunteer receives: Professional in-school training. Ongoing support with a volunteer mentor. Full selection of reading resources to use in sessions. A certificate at the end of year for use in university and job applications. This is an amazing experience, especially to gain first hand at only 16, because it has not only given me something to work towards but has given me an incredible challenge of trying to help a child just like myself when I was that age.
