Coram Beanstalk's Reading 321 programme provides consistent support for Looked After Children, helping each child twice a week for 30-minutes, for at least a full school year.

  • Our reading helpers build a trusting and positive relationship in their reading sessions, helping Looked After Children close the gap with their peers.
  • We can support Looked After Children across different primary schools, or concentrate on either a chosen year group or individual school.
  • Our support for Looked After Children is £220 per child per year.

We also offer Foster Carer Training that demonstrates how to run one-to-one sessions with children that encourage reading for pleasure whilst complementing the quality teaching the children receive at school.

Prior to support by his Coram Beanstalk reading helper, he was working well below age-related expectations and had a very poor opinion of reading and his own ability to do so. He has benefited hugely from his Beanstalk sessions, he is now working towards expectations for his age and his confidence has dramatically improved. St Vincent de Paul Primary School

His reading confidence, understanding and comprehension has improved so much through reading with a Coram Beanstalk reading helper twice a week. His carer also feels that his confidence and ability has improved when she reads with him at home too. Anfield Road Primary School
