ReadUp is the perfect opportunity for your 16-18 year old students to develop their skills, build their experience and undertake volunteering in their local community.

How does it work?

ReadUp is straightforward, structured and fits in easily around the busy schedule of any student:

  • Each volunteer works with two children in a local primary school who are falling behind with their reading skills, volunteering for a total of one hour per week.
  • Each volunteer provides 30 minutes of one-to-one support to each child, together they will read, talk and play games.

Everyone benefits!

Whether it's you as a school or college, your students, or children in a local primary school, everyone is a winner with ReadUp!

  • Your school or college will play a leading role in helping to transform the education of primary school children.
  • ReadUp volunteers will be able to demonstrate their personal skills, ability to help others and enthusiasm for volunteering - all great when applying for university or a job.
  • We provide reference letters for all volunteers, and as an Approved Activity Partner for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards it counts towards any DoE programme students are working towards - which is great for UCAS!

Learning should be an active process; for our Sixth Form students to put that into practice and be able to support the development of young readers is an experience to be treasured. Our Lady's Convent High School, London.

We're there every step of the way for ReadUp volunteers
