Reading Transition With Reading Transition you’ll make a lasting difference to a child’s life in just a single school term. You’ll provide one-to-one literacy support to four children who urgently need a short burst of help to develop the skills to succeed at school. Reading Transition is available in London for over 50’s and is run in partnership with the Give More Get More Foundation. With Reading Transition you’ll: Read, play and talk, opening up a child’s imagination with the magic of stories Experience helping a child develop the skills to succeed at school Provide eight hours of one-to-one literacy to four children aged 10-11 over just a term Become part of your local school community four days a week Reading Transition is perfect if: You want to make a life-long difference in just a single term You like to stay active and have fun – 80% of volunteers say it makes them feel more physically and mentally active You enjoy listening and talking to children to find out their passions, adapting reading materials to match their interests You can engage in a positive manner with children on a one-to-one basis You can be independent in a busy school environment You can visit your local primary school for 2 hours a day, four days week How do I get involved?
