About the role 

Hours: 30 hours per week

Working Pattern: Flexible in agreement with line manager, over 4/5 days per week 

Salary: £17,000 per annum pro rata  (£14,573 actual) 

Proposed start date: May 2018 

Location: Covering Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire, Stafford & Stone and surrounding. This role will involve being out and about across the areas so use of a car is essential.

Office: Linked to our Stoke-on-Trent office. You may on occasion be required to travel to other Beanstalk offices.

About the role 

Beanstalk Coordinators are the local face of Beanstalk; responsible for ensuring and maintaining a positive relationship between Beanstalk, volunteers and schools in the local community. 

We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about helping our volunteers to inspire and motivate children who are struggling with their reading and who are encouraging them to develop a love of books and stories. The right person will be confident talking to leaders in educational settings to help them get the best experience of the Beanstalk programmes.

The post holder is responsible for the placement of volunteers in education settings, checking progress and providing ongoing support. 

The coordinator will support awareness raising activity in their local area; volunteer and school recruitment; attend events and promote the benefits of supporting Beanstalk. 

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in volunteer co-ordination or similar, be interested in education, and confident in managing external relationships.

Essential 

  • Knowledge of community engagement and relationship management.
  • Proven experience in delivering high level customer service
  • Ability to represent an organisation at different levels for different audiences
  • Demonstrable experience of working to objectives, targets and deadlines
  • External communication & presentation skills
  • Passionate about literacy and reading
  • Efficient diary management, the ability to work to tight deadlines and to perform well under pressure
  • Ability to implement safeguarding, child protection and good practice
