Coram Beanstalk partner school, Parklands Primary in Leeds, celebrated National Storytelling Week by filling our twitter feed with photos and videos, taken by their incredible librarian Aimee, of children talking about their favourite stories, reading books and sharing their book recommendations, reviews and reasons for reading!

With photos and videos every day, the whole school got involved in celebrating the power of storytelling and the value of reading for pleasure - something we know can heavily influence a child's life chances.
Through our amazing partnerships with schools, like Parklands Primary, we can work together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to become a reader with every chance of a successful future.
If these photos don't showcase an example of a whole school reading for pleasure strategy in action then we don’t know what would!

Here are their Coram Beanstalk reading helpers in action - Bernard and Gaby, who the school describes as their reading ‘angels’!
Even Headteacher Chris Dyson got involved and had this to say:

"One of the best initiatives we've had here at Parklands Primary over the last 8 years has been our absolutely wonderful partnership with Coram Beanstalk. The care and attention that these wonderful individuals give to our vulnerable readers has seen a huge impact. Everybody wants to read but unfortunately sometimes with small houses, lots of people in a house or not very many books at home, finding a quiet place to read can be challenging and these are the children we identify for a Coram Beanstalk reading helper. Because they come into school every day it allows relationships to be built. Discussions about reading and an accurate level book, allows a child to succeed and to be challenged. I can't speak more highly of this fantastic charity! To lose yourself in a book is simply marvellous!"
