Amazing charity runners complete London marathon for Coram Beanstalk 29th April 2019 Six incredible runners took on the gruelling London marathon over the weekend to raise vital funds for Coram Beanstalk. Between them they raised an incredible £12,000 which will transform the life chances of children who struggle with reading across England. Managing Director Ginny Lunn said: "A huge congratulations to all our runners who truly did us so proud this weekend. Taking on a challenge event like the marathon takes commitment, mental and physical strength, and a whole lot of determination and we know the last few months would have been a test of all of these, so we want to say a really big 'thank you'. The money you have raised will make a tremendous difference to our work, helping us reach more children with our vital reading programmes." Among the runners was Dickson Lam who was the first of Coram Beanstalk's runners to cross the finish line. Kieran McCann was one of our biggest fundraisers raising an impressive £2,660 to date! Runners Darren Bedford and Dawn Parker are both connected to the charity through McCarthy & Stone - one of Coram Beanstalk's corporate partners - raising over £3,200 between them. Claire Law is Managing Director at Atwood Tate, a company that specialises in publishing recruitment and has pledged continued support to Coram Beanstalk for eight years. "I got very lucky?! and was given a place to run the marathon by Coram Beanstalk who my company Atwood Tate have been supporting for the last eight years. They train volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support in early years settings and primary schools to children who have fallen behind with their reading. This is an amazing opportunity for me to raise money for them to do more good work." Jay Davidge, despite being injured and in pain for much of the race, finished admirably! There is still time to sponsor all of our runners, just click on their names to be directed to their individual fundraising pages.
