15 February 2019

This week McCarthy & Stone’s CEO, John Tonkiss, presented Coram Beanstalk with a cheque for £15,000 to kick-start their pledge to raise over £100,000 during 2019 to help support the charity’s vital reading support programmes.

The presentation took place at Liverpool Central Library this week as part of a very special visit made by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall who was there to meet Coram Beanstalk volunteers and some of the children supported by them.

McCarthy & Stone is the leading developer of retirement communities and each year commits to supporting a charity. This year the business chose Coram Beanstalk to help improve the outcomes for children who struggle with reading while promoting the wellbeing benefits of intergenerational volunteering.

Staff and residents across the UK will be encouraged to get involved with fundraising through a variety of different activities and events throughout the year as well as encouraging engagement in volunteering programmes with Coram Beanstalk.

Coram Beanstalk Managing Director, Ginny Lunn, said:

“This donation is such a generous and welcome start to the partnership and really shows how committed McCarthy & Stone are to the cause and to the children we support. It means we can make immediate progress and start to reach more children in early years settings and primary schools who can benefit from our one-to-one support programmes. Thanks so much to all the staff and to the residents of McCarthy & Stone and we look forward to an exciting year of fundraising and volunteering with you!”
