Creating Readers (3-5 yrs) helps you to see the wonderful world of books through the eyes of a young child and learn how to fully involve them in the reading experience before they are able to read words themselves.

Using practical, enjoyable and interactive exercises, our training gives you the confidence to engage young children aged 3 to 5 years old, to read aloud really well to them, to share text and pictures to expose them to rich and varied vocabulary and to have a really purposeful conversation around a book.

After the workshop you will be ready to share books in a way that puts in place strong foundations for children to be ready for reading when they start primary education.

Who should attend

This is for you if you’d like to help children in your family or children you regularly look after to get ready for reading when they start school.

I think like many parents, you wonder if you are doing the right thing and getting as much out of reading time as possible, without putting too much stress on actually getting your child to decode the words. The workshop showed me different ways to bring the fun into reading through games with books, reading aloud and using the same book in lots of different ways. I’m sure like me, many parents can relate to having to read the same book every night because their children love it so much, and this workshop helped introduce me to new ways of working with the same books so that it's different every time. It also reinforced the idea that reading isn’t just for bedtimes, and that’s really helped make our reading time more impactful. Kate, Workshop attendee
