How to apply to become a Beanstalk reading helper

Beanstalk is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

If you have a disability or health-related issue that may affect your volunteering with us, please contact us on 020 7729 4087 to discuss before starting to complete your form. Also contact us if you have ever been convicted of any offence or bound-over or given a caution.

To become a Beanstalk reading helper, you must be able to answer "yes" to the following questions:

Are you able to visit a local school for 90 minutes twice a week, during school hours, term-time only?Yes

Can you make this commitment for at least one year?Yes

Have you been a resident in the UK for at least two years?*Yes

Are you fluent in English (both spoken and written?)Yes

Are you happy for us to apply for a DBS enhanced check and to provide us with a minimum of two references, one of which should be from a person in a professional capacity?Yes
No

*This is necessary for us to perform the relevant police checks. If you have lived outside the UK in the last five years you wil need to provide a certfifcate of good conduct from the country of residence.
